Thanks to all those who did the rain dance because much needed wet weather is on the way. However, that’s the least of our problems tomorrow. So buckle down everything you hold dear because tomorrow’s gonna be wild.
NBC Connecticut meteorologists say that today is just a taste of what’s to come. Enjoy the light drizzle and on and off showers into tonight, because tomorrow might rip the umbrella out of your hand. So, it might do you well to wear a rain coat. Or a poncho.
Overall, we could see between 1 and 3 inches of rain. Since there is another drought in Connecticut, I think we wouldn’t mind the soggy weather. However, there’s a strong possibility that we could see more than just rain.
A lot more.
Tomorrow could bring storm force winds gusting between 45 and 60 mph. Which means we may have to deal with scattered power outrages and property damage due to downed trees.
Not to mention, pockets of severe storms will show up in parts all over the state. So, be on the lookout for those. They could easily make several at-risk trees finally take the tumble. If you live in a wooded area, you may want to gas up your chainsaw, wood chippers, and log splitters today.
And generators. Growing up, I lived in a section of town that was last on the power grid, so if the power ever went out – it’d be awhile before the lights came back on. If you live in a similar area surrounded by trees, do yourself a solid and take advantage of those falling gas prices.
All this howling wind and heavy rains will start to taper off by Wednesday morning. However, we could still see several droplets of rain throughout the day.
Either way, this weather is ten times more preferable than what Mother Nature threw at us in years’ past. Like the Halloween Nor’easter. We typically see some sort of deluge around this time of year.
So, this little bracket of storms is what’s on the menu for 2017. Either way, we’ll take the rain and everything else that comes with it. We really really need it.
