Inspired by the senseless violence on December 14, 2012 in Newtown, combined with an effort to restore the east coast after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, the Where Angels Play Foundation’s Sandy Ground Project was born. 26 memorials are being constructed in honor of children who are victims of violence, and a safe place for children to play. The objective is for all these playgrounds to provide a symbol of hope, recovery, and a return to normalcy.
Sixteen of the playgrounds have been completed, and there are ten more to go. The next is scheduled to be built next month in Milford in honor of James Mattioli. To that end, today the Milford Firefighters Local 944 are teaming up with the Tilted Kilt in Milford (290 Olde Gate Lane) to raise funds. It kicks off at 11am and goes until 1am, with 50% of all proceeds (literally everything on the menu, including alcohol) from today going to the charity. You can also hang out with Chaz from Chaz & AJ in the Morning when he’s there hosting the festivities this evening. Plus, seeing the girls of the Tilted Kilt there is just an added bonus.
