Snapchat has recently updated its interface, and users are not happy.
Snapchat has undergone many updates in order to enhance the user experience. However, this recent change, while intended to make the app easier, actually hinders the experience as a whole.
According to CNBC, almost 80% of all tweets about Snapchat are currently negative.
The current update has separated friend accounts from celebrity or brand accounts. The screen where you view friends’ stories is now combined with the screen where you view snaps that have been sent directly to you. It merged everything into one, making it hard to figure out which snaps you have to open.
Snapchat has been planning an overhaul redesign of the app, admitting in the past it could be confusing to follow. However, many users are not happy with this particular redesign. This writer included!
According to CNN tech, Snapchat rolled out this update to 40 million users first. In response to the backlash from said 40 million users, a spokesperson for Snap told CNN, ” Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.”
It is unclear what Snapchat will do with all of this negative feedback. However, the dog filter will always be a worldwide favorite, so there’s one positive!
