SWAN Day CT is fast approaching, and this year it will be held at Illusions Dance Club and Restaurant in Wolcott.  The April 5th concert will feature an impressive roster of female-fronted bands, plus burlesque performers (some of the same ones who were dancing for Nightbitch!), a fire dancer, and a cupcake truck.  Cupcakes, monstly-naked chicks, and music – what’s not to like?

SWAN is in ALL CAPS because it stands for Support Women Artists Now – and SWAN Day is actually an international celebration, first started seven years ago by two women’s arts organizations in the Chicago area.  According to Womens Arts.org, there have been close to a thousand SWAN Day events in twenty-three countries since they first began the holiday.

Pianist and vocalist Jennifer Hill organized SWAN Day CT shows and this year’s lineup looks great.  Hill’s own band Jennifer Hill and Co. will be performing, as well Them Damn Hamiltons, Sarah Barrios, Post Modern Panic… Really too many to list, so squint at the flier!  Here are musical previews of some of the acts:

SWAN DAY tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.  Buy them online here and see the Facebook page for more information.
