Matt Harvey is at number 2. He was born in New London, raised in Mystic, and played high school ball in Groton, CT. He hasn’t been in the MLB that long yet to prove that he is the greatest CT athlete of all time but he for sure has the potential to be at the top of the list. Harvey was named the all-star starting pitcher in 2013. Harvey is entering his sixth season in the majors but has only played in five of them. He didn’t pitch in 2014 due to the dreadful Tommy John surgery. This set him back for a little but when the Dark Knight came back he showed his true form once again. In 2015 his season back after the surgery Harvey went 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. This was what Mets fans were praying to see when Harvey touched the rubber for the first time post-surgery. Harvey was able to win the 2015 NL Comeback Player of the Year Award. Not only did he win this great award, but he was also able to pitch the Met’s to play in their first World Series since 2000. Mets fans and all of CT hope that Harvey can continue his dominant 2015 form for years to come.
