Out of the cinematic frying pan into the cinematic fire we go! Just a few days removed from the Oscars and back at it with a palate cleansing popcorn flick. Ladies and Gentleman, you can put your season pass to the local arthouse cinema away until next December as the preamble to summer blockbuster commences.

One of the last true movie stars soars back into theaters this weekend with Focus. Will Smith, who shockingly has not starred in a movie with his name above the title since 2013’s After Earth, is about to get very busy. Before picking up the ball for DC Comics as Deadshot and Harley Quinn and going head-to-head for comic book movie supremacy against the Avengers, Will Smith and Margot Robbie will star in Focus, a good old fashioned will-they-or-won’t-they-long-con-heist movie. Based on the trailer, I’m pretty sure they will. And do.

Other than After Earth, Will Smith has turned in almost exclusively $100 million dollar returns at the box office. He is one of the last movie stars (along with Tom Cruise and the serging Bradley Cooper) who can generate that type of success on his name alone. Focus is going to have all of the elements we love about Will Smith movies- car chases, action shots, gorgeous scenery, and quotable one-liners. Based on the trailer, it looks like it could the Ocean’s 11 sequel we wished Ocean’s 13 was.

What’s It About (via IMDB): Nicky (Will Smith), a veteran con artist, takes a novice named Jess (Margot Robbie) under his wing. While Nicky teaches Jess the tricks of the trade, the pair become romantically involved; but, when Jess gets uncomfortably close, Nicky ends their relationship. Three years later, Nicky is in Buenos Aires working a very dangerous scheme when Jess — now an accomplished femme fatale — unexpectedly shows up. Her appearance throws Nicky for a loop at a time when he cannot afford to be off his game.
