It’s appropriate, for more reasons than we can count, that this weekend’s forecast shows signs of being the first truly decent weather we’ve seen in months. The most obvious reason, of course, is that we have endured what has been the most miserable winter of all time.
But for those that enjoy the happiest coincidences in life, we have another great reason that the sunny forecast is perfectly times: Sunday, when the skies will be clear and temperatures will peak around 65 degrees, The UConn Car Club will be hosting its 12th Annual Spring Car Show.
That means that instead of spending your sunny Sunday running errands or doing chores around the house, you can spend it at Rentschler Field in East Hartford checking out the coolest cars that Connecticut has to offer. And we’re not just talking classics or muscle cars – the UConn Car Club welcomes one, welcomes all, and hosts literally thousands of cars, with everything from classics and Euros to imports and Supercars represented.
And with so many cars, there will be plenty of winners. Trophies will be given for 21 different categories, with a winner and runner up in each one. If you’ve got your eyes on one of those trophies, you can conveniently register the morning of the show for the price of just $15 per car. Or if you’re just planning to watch, it’ll only cost you $5 to park.
Of course, with so much going on for people of all ages and interests, The UConn Car Club has to come prepared. They’ve got restrooms on the premises and multiple food vendors on site to keep lines short and everyone fed, so you can spend the day without the stress or worry of having to run off to find lunch or toilet.
We’re honestly not sure what we’re more impressed by: The fact that students organized this event for thousands of people and cars or the fact they’ve been doing it for 12 years now. Either way, they’re putting on Connecticut’s best car show and you should be there.
So go ahead! Ditch the lawn mower and grocery shopping! Greet the sun with some well-earned, affordable family fun this Sunday at The UConn Car Club’s 12th Annual Spring Car Show at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
