Twitter has proclaimed today #NationalWineDay and I am not complaining. Granted, I’m relatively sure that we celebrated a #NationalWineDay a few months ago… or maybe that was #NationalInsertAnyAlcoholNameHereDay. Either way, no excuses are needed to pour ourselves a full bodied glass of Cabernet, or a light, crisp Pinot Grigio.
Although Connecticut certainly isn’t known for our wineries, that doesn’t mean we don’t try. There are plenty of great spots to gather with friends and taste some of the wine that’s created right here in our good ol’ state. You may not believe it but there are 25 different wineries that make up the Connecticut Wine Trail. 25! The wine trail will bring you from the Litchfield Hills to the shoreline.
With Memorial Day weekend upon us, this is a perfect time to check out some of the vineyards since most are hosting special events that include music and tastings. Also, save the date July 23/24, that’s when Connecticut has our own wine festival!
Luckily instead of simply Googling “Connecticut Wineries” and trying to figure out what to do, they’ve compiled all the information on a neat site called CTWine.com.
Cheers to #NationalWineDay and I look forward to #NationalStainedRedTeethDay tomorrow.
