For the first time in 28 years, the traffic lights in Stamford will be more synchronized, improved, and updated, starting this summer.
By the end of the summer, thanks to new fiber optics and hard drives, all of the city’s lights will be in sync with cars, pedestrians, bikers in designated areas, and most importantly, with each other.
People have already started to notice going faster through downtown with less hang ups, with travel time being reduced by a whopping 33%!
“Correctly timed lights improves their experience,” says Traffic, Transportation and Parking Bureau Chief Jim Travers. “As a pedestrian, you’re going to feel much safer on the streets. As a driver, you’re going to reduce your frustration, you’re going to get from point A to point B in a more efficient manner.”
Jim’s got it right. Anything that will reduce my stress on the roads is a godsend.
