Sometimes you come across a headline that just puts a gigantic smile on your face.  With Veterans’ Day coming up, the Maritime Aquarium wanted to do something special for our nation’s bravest.  So, instead of free admission for one day, it’s free admission EVERY day throughout November!

Fairfield Daily Voice reports that the Maritime is one of Connecticut’s biggest supporters of local veterans.  The aquarium offers a year-round $10 admission discount for anyone who served.  But, if the person is still an active service member, admission is always free.

You just need to bring with you the proper ID in order to reap those benefits.  Also, the discount can only be applied at the door and can’t be combined with an advanced online order.

For this month, however, the Maritime wants to make November a little extra special.  The aquarium partnered with Operation Gratitude and set up a desk where visitors may fill out thank you cards to those fighting overseas.

Plus, over the Veteran’s Day weekend, they will display three special military vehicles for a special “Military Touch-A- Truck” event.   So, grab your cameras and park your kids inside either a World War II Jeep, a 1950 M38 Jeep, or a 1987 Humvee!  They’ll even have matching helmets to wear!

However, that only happens on the 11th and 12th, so plan accordingly!

Also, on the 11th, a retired Navy SEAL will join three special seal training sessions.  U.S. Navy SEAL Capt. Peter Wikul served for 39-years before retiring in 2009.  He earned the name “Bullfrog 13” because he’s the longest-serving active-duty SEAL.

He’ll help with the seal training at the aquarium’s 11:45 morning show and for two afternoon shows at 1:45 and 3:45 p.m.

Plus, he’ll take questions from the kids about his time as a Navy SEAL and tell stories about his career.

Pretty cool, huh?

So, that’s what the Maritime has going on this month.  If you’re an active or retired service member, this seems like the perfect place to take your family out for some fun!

While admission for veterans is free, non-service member adults pay $22.95. Seniors (65+) along with youths between the ages of 12-17 are $20.95 while kids 12 and under are just $15.95.

Each ticket comes with a 40-minute IMAX movie, too!
