There are more than a few factors going into the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi this week that should be of concern to everyone involved. One of them being the extremely dangerous slopestyle course at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park which has already injured a bunch of athletes before the torch has even been lit. Including Team USA superstar and fan favorite Shaun White. White has even opted out of the slopestyle snowboarding competition altogether after seeing and riding the course. Saying in a statement to NBC’s Today,
“After much deliberation with my team, I have made the decision to focus solely on trying to bring home the third straight gold medal in halfpipe for Team USA. The difficult decision to forgo slopestyle is not one I take lightly as I know how much effort everyone has put into holding the slopestyle event for the first time in Olympic history, a history I had planned on being a part of.”
In this amazing POV video you can a pretty intense look at what it feels like to ride the course.
