We knew this day would come.
After a mild winter last year, a nice long spring and summer with warm weather throughout, and now a fall season that has been a little gloomy, we all knew that one day the calendar would turn and we would be back in the darkness, the cold, the dreaded season of Winter.
It’s back and, according to some forecasts, it’s coming back with a vengeance. The CT Post reported that AccuWeather is predicting above-average snowfall and below-average temperatures this season.
Frankly, I’m not surprised. We got off light last year, and it was only a matter of time until the bliss of 64-degree Christmases came crashing down under a pile of white snow. I’m just glad we’re getting it over with sooner rather than later.
Imagine if this year we had another mild winter. We’d start wondering what was going on, always looking over our shoulder, knowing that snow was there just waiting for the right moment to pounce. That’s no way to live!
I don’t want to be sitting outside in March, thinking spring is right around the corner and the weather will be turning warm, only to be hit with a foot of snow. And we all know that’s exactly how it would go down if we had another mild winter this year.
So bring it on, Winter! We’ve been waiting for you. We knew you were coming. We’re prepared, shovels in hand, and we’re ready for battle.
