Spring has finally arrived here in Connecticut. That horrible winter is behind us and everyone is happy. Well, maybe not everyone.
If you live in Wethersfield the arrival of spring means a horrific fishy smell. It’s the smell of dead fish near a popular trail for runners along the Griswold Reservoir.
The town says they know about the problem but there is nothing they can do about it. Because of the harsh winter the reservoir had a thick layer of ice which blocked oxygen and killed all the fish. Now that it is melting away the dead fish are washing up on shore.
The town and the DEEP have both agreed to “let nature take it’s course” as opposed to cleaning it up.
There is a fish smell joke somewhere here I just haven’t finished my coffee yet to be funny enough to come up with it.
