Dunkin Donuts announced this week they will be getting rid of Titanium Dioxide, a whitening agent, that is used by a lot of different pastry and baked good shops. Dunkin Donuts is one of the places that uses it, and if you’ve ever eaten some of their delicious powdered sugar munchkins, well, then you’ve eaten this titanium dioxide.
I’m all for food shops getting rid of stuff that could potentially be toxic to humans, and this is one of this cases. Supposedly the FDA said there can be a very small amount in food before it affects humans but how can we be so sure!? Dunkin Donuts decided to make this move after a non-profit organization called “As You Sow” brought it to their attention.
Ya know what Dunkin? Cool move on your part. You got noticed and you did something about it.
I just hope those powder sugar munchkins stay the same. They are SO good.
