Where were you two years ago today when Hurricane Irene hit?
Over the past few years, we’ve gotten kinda used to crazy weather in Connecticut. Massive snowstorms, tornados, earthquakes, and, of course, hurricanes. But, on August 28, 2011, we still weren’t quite used to the onslaught of amazingly bad weather. Things started to change once Hurricane Irene hit that Saturday.
Homes up and down the coast were completely destroyed, lives were lost, and nearly 800,000 of us lost power for days. Let’s look back on that day with some footage, as we are also reminded that just because the weather is great today, don’t get too comfortable – we are now in the heart of hurricane season (so get prepared!):
