If you’ve never watched the Spike series “Bar Rescue,” you really should. Yes, I know some of it’s staged and scripted, but it’s highly entertaining. Jon Taffer comes into a rundown bar that’s usually disgusting and almost always financially under water, yells at people and tells them how terrible they are at their jobs and life in general, fires people, and then rebuilds the bar so that they can be profitable.
Hilariously, they almost always revert back to their old ways. Because people are dumb. (Although the one time he came through Connecticut, Pawcatuck’s Handlebar and Grill is still going strong.)
However, the people on this list that he came up with know what they’re doing. They are all on the Greatest Bar Names in America. And we’ve got one here in Connecticut.
If you want to go, well, you’ll have to make it over to Middlesex County if you want to go to the winner – the Monkey Farm Cafe in Old Saybrook. (It used to be the Saybrook Inn, but who wants to go to that place? I’m far more interested in a Monkey Farm!)
