In my day, a simple “Wanna go to prom with me” normally did the trick. Well, to be honest, in my day I was never actually asked to the prom, but I witnessed other people being asked, so I know what I’m talking about.

Now that everyone has dreams of becoming an internet sensation, a new trend has been growing over the past couple years and it needs to be stopped: the ‘Promposal’….and news stations REPORTING on it.

If you’re unaware of the ‘Promposal’, it’s a creative and extravagant way teens ask their crush to the prom. I’ll admit, I’ve seen some good ones:

But, high schoolers expressing young love is not completely my issue, it’s them getting news coverage for doing it. I ask people for things all day long in pretty creative ways, and I never make the news. Just last night, an Ellington kid took his date to Frank Pepe’s Pizza in Manchester (which is all I need to agree to doing anything), and wrote: “Prom?” on the paper underneath the pizza.

Cool, he sealed the deal, got some delicious pizza, but why am I reading about that on a news site??!

I guess some would argue it’s a ‘feel-good’ piece. But, I think this whole promposal season and news stations rubbing it in every cycle has dug up some feelings I’ve held dormant in my body for about 15 years……

I JUST WANT SOMEONE TO PROMPOSE TO ME!!!!
