Win $100,000 for playing dodgeball in Hartford (seriously)

First before you do anything, please watch this promotional video. No, this isn’t a joke. It is hilariously un-ironic.

Somehow, WarriorBall isn’t some elaborate Ponzi scheme – it is a legitimate enterprise and easily one of the largest games of dodgeball that has, or will ever be played – and it’s happening in Connecticut. This coming June at Rentschler Field in East Hartford. And someone will win $100,000.

That’s one person – not a team – one person. Which means you gotta be as good as this kid to win:

It’ll be played with basic dodgeball rules – and each round will consist of 105 players on each side of the line throwing at each other. After three rounds, any survivors who have not been hit with a ball will go to the money rounds, and the top ten participants will win money, with one player winning overall $100,000.

Right now, through the month of October, it’s only $199 to register (it goes up to $299 in November). As far as I can tell, there’s no limit on the number of participants, but if I’ve done my math correctly, they need at least 700 people to be able to issue the prize money – which is ridiculous. Plus, it does benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, so they probably need at least 1000.

Now, for the real reason you came to this article – clips from the movie “Dodgeball”:
