You’re An Asshole: Twin Cities Radio Host Tells Newtown Familes “Go To Hell”
Bob Davis is a conservative radio talk-show host in Minnesota, but might not be for long. He has lost multiple advertisers after telling the families who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook school shooting to “go to hell” for being so involved in the national debate on gun control. Davis is the co-host of the “Davis and Emmer” show on KTCN (AM 1130) in the Twin Cities. He is now being offered an all-expenses-paid trip here to Newtown, CT to repeat what he had to say on the air to the families in person.
All of this began when Davis offered up this gem back on April 12:
“I have something I want to say to the victims of Newtown or any other shooting, I don’t care if it’s here in Minneapolis or anyplace else: Just because a bad thing happened to you doesn’t mean that you get to put a king in charge of my life. I’m sorry that you suffered a tragedy, but you know what? Deal with it, and don’t force me to lose my liberty, which is a greater tragedy than your loss.
“I’m sick and tired of seeing these victims trotted out, given rides on Air Force One, hauled into the Senate well, and everyone is … terrified of these victims. I would stand in front of them and tell them, ‘Go to hell.’ ”
I mean, really? This just reeks of your typical political blowhard “I need ratings so I’m going to be as shocking as I can” talking head asshole. Look at him with his extra thick black rim glasses looking as smug and douchey as ever. That’s exactly what I pictured him looking in my head before I even pulled up the photo.
I hope he does come here to Connecticut. Maybe sitting down face-to-face with the actual people who have had their children, sisters, mothers, relatives, friends, and loved ones ripped away from them will change his perspective a little.
You Bob Davis, can go to hell.
